Jagdeep Bijwadia, M.D., Now Offers Home Sleep Studies
We are pleased to announce the addition of Jagdeep Bijwadia, M.D., pulmonologist, to the family medicine clinic at the Apple Valley Medical Center. Dr. Bijwadia will be reviewing home-based sleep studies for patients who are concerned about their sleep patterns and may be at risk for sleep apnea, hypertension and respiratory issues.
We are supposed to sleep eight hours a night, but when that sleep is interrupted, it can lead to a variety of disorders, including narcolepsy (excessive sleepiness), restless leg syndrome and sleep apnea. Obstructive sleep apnea affects 18 million people in the United States alone. It occurs when the muscles in the throat relax during sleep, narrowing the airway and impairing breathing. Essentially, people with this condition stop breathing many times for short periods of time through the night. This can lead to more serious health problems, including migraines, heart failure and stroke.
If you think you have a sleep disturbance and want to learn more, contact Dr. Bijwadia at 952-432-6161 for an appointment.
