We all need a good night’s sleep, but many people have trouble falling asleep or staying sleep. Sometimes the cause is simply poor preparation for sleep or an abnormally stressful day. Other times the reason is a sleep disorder that needs to be assessed and treated.
The Apple Valley Medical Clinic’s Sleep Health Services offers a complete range of services to help you get a good night’s sleep, from education and assessment to diagnosis and comprehensive follow up. If we find that you have a sleep disorder, we will provide options for treatment.
We sleep a third of our lives. When that sleep is interrupted, it affects our quality of life. Our Sleep Health Services offers extensive consultation and after care for sleep-related disorders, using a wide variety of techniques including behavioral treatments to help lose weight, oral appliances, continuous positive air pressure (CPAP) devices and ENT consultation when warranted.
The Apple Valley Medical Clinic Sleep Health Services began in 2010. Working with the clinic is Jagdeep Bijwadia, M.D., pulmonologist, and Robert McCoy, RRT, FAARC. McCoy is owner of Valleyaire Respiratory Services and an expert in the treatment of sleep disorders and the equipment used for this purpose. Allina Health United Lung & Sleep Clinic also offers specialty care on the Apple Valley Medical Center campus.
The physicians at Apple Valley Medical Clinic will help you understand your individual symptoms and their causes. Many times, a simple behavior modification can prepare you for a better night’s sleep. In some cases, however, you might require a sleep test to determine if you have a sleep disorder that needs intervention.
What is a sleep study?
A sleep study consists of collecting information about your sleep patterns while you sleep. The data from your study are scored and interpreted by a board certified sleep specialist to determine if any therapy is necessary. Your physician will review the study with you and discuss all options available for treatment. We believe education is the first step to effective treatments.
Paid CPAP Study Opportunity
Valley Inspired Products (VIP), in cooperation with the Apple Valley Medical Clinic Sleep Center, is currently accepting volunteer information for future PAID evaluations of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) sleep therapy systems and accessories, such as masks and nasal pillows. If you have regularly used a CPAP therapy system for at least six months and are interested in participating in such a study, please contact VIP. Past paid evaluations have included CPAP mask/nasal pillow preference studies and overnight sleep studies using new, prototype home CPAP therapy systems. Please note that submitting your interest and information will not guarantee qualification for a future study, as there may be certain acceptance criteria, but your information will not be used for any purpose other than for VIP to contact you when a study opportunity arises.
About Sleep Disorders
Poor sleep quality can be very frustrating, but it also can be dangerous. If you are not getting a refreshing night’s sleep, your ability to think clearly, perform your job effectively or even drive your car safely may be affected.
We are proud of the medical staff that works at the Apple Valley Medical Center.
