Q.

Can anyone come to the Apple Valley Medical Center Urgent Care, or does a person have to be a current patient?

A.

We welcome anyone at our Urgent Care. You do not have to be a current patient of the Apple Valley Medical Center. If you are, however, providers can access your medical records while you are here, saving you some time filling out forms.

Q.

Will I be seen by a physician?

A.

We always have a physician on site, but depending on your illness or injury, you may be seen by a physician assistant or nurse practitioner.

Q.

How long will I have to wait to be seen?

A.

We try to see patients as quickly as possible, while giving everyone adequate time with the health care provider. Your wait time will depend on many factors, including time of day, time of year and medical issues of patients prior to your arrival. We staff in proportion to traditional busy times to keep your wait to a minimum. You may call ahead of time to check on the wait, but please remember this may change before your arrival.

Q.

What if I need medication?

A.

If your health care provider determines that you need medication, we will write a prescription that you can have filled at our on-site pharmacy during business hours or at a pharmacy of your choice after hours.

Q.

What if I need an x-ray?

A.

We have x-ray services on site 24/7 to meet your needs. During regular business hours, we also have CT, MRI and ultrasound capabilities, as well as a full range of family medicine physicians and specialists.

Q.

What if I need lab work done?

A.

We have a lab on site that can perform lab tests, such as drawing blood. Results of lab tests that take longer to complete will be communicated to you after you leave.

Q.

How will the results of my visit get to my primary care physician?

A.

We can send a record of your treatment directly to your primary care physician, if you wish.

Q.

What if I have to be admitted to a hospital?

A.

If our physicians believe your illness or injury requires immediate hospitalization, we will make arrangements for you to be transported from our Urgent Care to a hospital you choose.

Q.

What insurance do you accept?

A.

Our Urgent Care accepts most major insurance coverage. If you have questions about your insurance coverage, we recommend contacting your insurance provider directly.

Q.

Will I have to pay a co-pay?

A.

This depends on your insurance. Please contact your insurance provider if you have questions on your co-pay.
